The Sydney-to-Melbourne XPT passenger train, operated by NSW TrainLink, derailed in Wallan shortly before 8:00pm on February 20, 2020. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said the train derailed after hurtling into a passing loop at between 114kph and 127kph in a 15kph zone.
